Fun Ford Weekend will unleash horsepower frenzy as hundreds of mustangs and Ford models thunder down the drag strip. The event delivers fans unbeatable gear-slamming, pavement-pounding, edge-of-your-seat racing experience as Fords, Pro-Mods Jet Cars and Wheelstanders rumble and race down the drag strip reaching tire-smoking speeds of over 300 miles per hour. Anyone without a Ford can still get in on the fun by pitting their American muscle car against the Ford Mustangs in the Steeda Autosports sponsored heads-up “Pony Wars.”
Mustang mania will take over the entire facility from racing on the quarter-mile drag strip to the two-mile road course hosting the “Mustang Triathlon” sponsored by the Palm Beach Mustang Club and Muscle Mustangs Magazine. The triathlon will feature three challenges including an autocross on the road course, speed brake challenge and heads up drag racing.
“Palm Beach International Raceway gives families in the Palm Beach Country area an experience unlike no other,” says Jason Rittenberry, President & CEO of PBIR. “Not many people are fortunate enough to have high-speed racing right in their backyard. A day at the races offers family fun that cannot be matched by going to the movie theater or the beach.”
Up and coming South Florida country band, Cecilia Lauren & the Ocoee River
Band, will be playing their hit “Country Girls Do It Better” at Palm Beach
International Raceway’s Fun Ford Weekend.
In addition to the racing action, horsepower enthusiasts and families alike will enjoy an “All American” family weekend with a car and truck show, swap meet, vendor midway and live entertainment. As Fun Ford Weekend’s media sponsor, South Florida’s Country Music Station 103.1 WIRK presents up and coming country stars Kristi Templin singing the national anthem and Cecilia Lauren and the Ocoee River Band performing their hit song, “Country Girls Do It Better.”
Fun Ford Weekend at Palm Beach International Raceway will also play host to a benefit fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. The Boys & Girls Club offers underprivileged children programs and services that promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. Throughout the day on Saturday September 15, families will be able to enter raffles for the chance to win big prizes and fans of racing can take a ride in a Beat the Heat race car or take a turn in the high-speed go-karts at the MRP kart center.
