JUPITER, FL – April 16, 2011 – Thousands of race fans packed the grandstands at Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) to watch the rumble, roar and power of the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) this weekend.
Saturday’s activity began with final qualifying sessions for all six drag racing classes – Pro Extreme, Pro Nitrous, Extreme 10.5, Pro Extreme Motorcycle, Extreme Pro Stock and Pro Jr. Dragsters. Teams used the fourth qualifying session in an attempt to improve their qualifying positions from Friday.
During the free admission event, day-long visitors watched nearly 150 pairs of cars drag race on the all-concrete track. Once final eliminations began, not a single seat was available on the PBIR grandstands. Crowds lined the fences on both sides of the track to watch some of the fastest quarter-mile racing in the country.
“We had an amazing crowd at Palm Beach International Raceway for ADRL this weekend,” said Jason Rittenberry, President and CEO, PBIR. “Thanks to the racers, teams and fans for making this a successful weekend for PBIR. We had plenty of familiar faces in the stands, but we also welcomed many first-time visitors to the facility. We’re working on making PBIR south Florida’s premier family-friendly motorsports and entertainment venues and this weekend was a step in that direction.”
At the conclusion of the drag racing, fans watch special exhibition runs from the Police Interceptor and Embry-Riddle Jet Cars and Summit Motorsports “Bigfoot” Monster Truck.
