JUPITER, FL – March 22, 2011 – Boasting some of the fastest and most challenging corners and straightways offered by any track in North America, Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR) was selected by Automobili Lamborghini America, LLC to host an exclusive ride and drive with the automaker’s high performance vehicles on the two-mile, 11-turn, state-of-the-art road course.
In conjunction with the official Orlando, Sarasota, Miami and Palm Beach Lamborghini dealerships, Lamborghini hosted more than 150 guests over the three-day Florida Driving Experience. More than six vehicles were featured at the event, including two of the brand’s newest models, the track-focused Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera and the rear-wheel drive Gallardo LP 550-2 Coupe. Other vehicles included the limited edition Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni, the open-top Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder and one Murciélago LP 640 Coupe. The Spyder was used for driving off of the track, while brand representative and professional driver Richard Antinucci drove the Murciélago to pace the field on PBIR’s road course.
“Florida is one of Lamborghini’s top markets in the United States, and we enjoy working closely with our dealer network here to provide driving opportunities geared towards existing and potential new customers,” said Wolfgang Hoffmann, Chief Operating Officer for Automobili Lamborghini America, LLC. “This event allowed Lamborghini customers to experience a different side of the vehicles and truly understand why Lamborghini super sports cars are extreme, uncompromising and unmistakably Italian.”
Hoffmann and the dealership group used their time at Palm Beach International Raceway to talk with potential customers and existing clients about Lamborghini vehicles’ performance capabilities, while giving attendees the chance to push the cars to their limits on the track.
“Lamborghini is focused on experiential marketing, allowing customers to experience both the cars and the people behind the brand,” Hoffmann explained. “We want our customers to see how passionate we are about our vehicles, and the best way to do that is to spend the day with them.”
Florida has long been an important market for Lamborghini as well as the supercar industry. Among the other tracks in the state, Lamborghini chose Palm Beach International Raceway as the site for the Florida Driving Experience due to the track’s location and suitability for super sports cars.
“We liked all aspects of Palm Beach International Raceway – the proximity to dealerships, the ease and professionalism of the track, and the logistics and safety,” explained Hoffmann. “We want to work with tracks that fit our high brand standards. The Palm Beach raceway layout suits our driver profile, our cars, and allows our drivers to really get a feel for what Lamborghini vehicles are capable of.”
It was important to the Lamborghini team when planning the event to select a track facility that could showcase the key performance elements of the brand’s super sports cars.
“This track has a really nice mixture of high speed sections and corners, but also has some slow corners where you have to drive accurately. You have some fast esses in here which makes it interesting for the customers,” said Hoffmann. “The track allows relatively high speeds, which helps our cars, as they are capable of reaching upward of 200 mph. The track surface is important as well -- this track surface is not too rough, which allows the tire to last longer here. The road course surface is well maintained and that enabled us to showcase our cars even better.”
