INDIANAPOLISÂ - - Drivers of the No. 35 and No. 37 Team PBIR Firestone Indy Lights cars had top-10 finishes today at the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Piloting the No. 35 Dallara, Charlie Kimball started seventh in the lineup. On Lap 31,
he made contact with another competitor. The incident caused Kimball to come into the pits, but he still managed an eighth-place finish.Â
Behind the wheel of the No. 37 car, Jay Howard qualified sixth on the grid. When the green flag drop, Howard maintained his position keeping the majority of the field in his mirrors. Despite several yellow flags, Howard continued in the fifth spot. During the final laps of the 100-mile race, Howard was able to pick up another spot. When the checkered flag waved, Howard finished fourth.
"Both teams did a great job today," stated Ron Dixon, President and COO of Palm Beach International Raceway. "It is unfortunate that Charlie and another racer made contact. He had a strong car and was gaining positions before the incident."
"As for Jay, we made a list minute call to put him in the car for this race. He missed the first practice and got some seat time during the second. I was really impressed with his qualifying effort for the race and am pleased with his finish." Team PBIR heads to the Milwaukee (Wisc.) Mile on Sunday, May 31, 2009. |
