Jupiter, Fla. - - The Atlantic Championship Series completed their two-day test session at Palm Beach International Raceway yesterday to prepare for their season opener in Sebring, Fla. on March 20, 2009.
Seven teams participated and the drivers included: Borja Garcia (Condor Motorsports), John Edwards (Newman Wachs Racing), Markus Niemela (Newman Wachs Racing), Franki Muniz (Team Stargate Worlds), Harald Schlegelmilch (Conquest Racing), Frederic Vervisch (Genoa Racing), Jonathan Bomarito (Mathiasen Motorsports), Matt Lee (Jensen
MotorSport), Simona De Silvestro (Team Stargate Worlds), Alexander Rossi (Genoa Racing), Max Lefevre (Condor Motorsports) and Michael Nacol (Jensen MotorSports).
"The facility is great," stated Vicki O'Connor, Atlantic Championship Managing Director. "The teams are all real happy with their on-track performance and the facility."Â
The runner-up in the 2008 Atlantic Series championship points piloted the No. 26 car around Palm Beach International Raceway's road course. Bomarito was pleased with his team's performance on the two-mile circuit.
It is the first time that I have been here and I like it," stated Bomarito. "The track is fairly technical and there are a lot of fast duration sweeping corners. Turn No. 5 is the banked corner and it is very fast in an Atlantic Car. It has been a couple fun days of driving here."
The Formula Car Series has 12 races scheduled in 2009; seven of the 11 are American Le Mans companion events.
