In an effort to increase safety Palm Beach International Raceway has purchased more than 1,000 feet of soft walls to line the existing road course walls. The walls are primarily for the safety at the motorcycle events hosted on PBIR’s two-mile, 11-turn road course.
“We are so happy to be purchasing another 1060 feet of soft wall,†said Chris Festa, road course manager.  “The soft wall is so vital to the safety of the motorcycle racing and track day community as it absorbs all the impact energy sustained during a collision with the wall. It takes all energy so the body doesn’t have to take it, it immensely decreases the injury one may sustain during an incident with a motorcycle.
“Thanks to this necessary investment, we can now host several more motorcycle organizations whether it is a track day provider or a racing series. As a result of this, CCS Florida region is happy to return to PBIR for two rounds of their 2010 season.â€
The soft walls will take up to twelve weeks to get on site at Palm Beach International Raceway.
