TEAM PBIR TESTS INDY LIGHTS CAR AT PALM BEACH INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
Saturday, 28 February 2009 05:52

090227_indytestJUPITER, FLA. - Team PBIR came together yesterday for the first time at their home track, Palm Beach International Raceway testing the No. 35 Firestone Indy Lights Car. The members were joined by two of the top, young American drivers, Jonathan Summerton and Ian Harms.

Summerton joined Team PBIR after the initial shakedown of the No. 35 car in Homestead, Fla. After turning a couple laps on the 2-mile road course, the communication between the team and the 20-year-old driver synced resulting in the fastest laps of the morning. At the completion of the session, Kane Williams, Vice President of Motorsports for Palm Beach International Raceway was pleased with the performance of Team PBIR and Summerton.

"Jonathan worked hard this morning doing as excellent job driving and giving our engineer and team amazing feedback," stated Williams. "It helped us get up to speed immediately."

During the afternoon session, Ian Harms took the seat of the Team PBIR Firestone Indy Lights car. During the limited laps the 24-year-old driver turned for the team, he was noteworthy and had fast laps times.
"Ian was very impressive and did a great job for the team," stated Williams. "He had very fast lap times for never having driven Firestone Indy Lights car."

Summerton is the only driver to win a race for Team USA in the A1GP series. He raced in the competitive Formula 3 Euro series in Europe and as a rookie beat several young F1 drivers.

Harms brings extensive karting experience and was named Rookie of the Year in 2007 by Formula Car Magazine Championship in 2007.
